Keep Texas Primaries Open

Protect Texans' Freedom

The government has no business telling Texans we must publicly declare a political party to have a say in elections we pay for. The majority of Texans want to keep our political affiliation private and Texas primaries open.

Stop Big Government

Closing primaries would mean new registration rules, new systems, and more big government bureaucracy and state control over Texas’s 254 counties and our personal political affiliation.

Hold Politicians Accountable

Open primaries mean politicians have to answer to all voters. Keeping primaries open helps ensure elected officials remain accountable to the Texans they represent.

Don't Raise Costs on Taxpayers

Closing primaries would require costly changes to Texas’ voter registration and election systems, creating new expenses for taxpayers and local governments.

Texans value freedom and limited government. For decades, our open primaries have reflected those values, allowing Texans to participate without having to declare a political party. Closing the primaries would move Texas in the wrong direction, putting more government between voters and the elections we pay for.
